Description

Buy Adefovir Dipivoxil Online from Licensed Canadian Pharmacies

Adefovir dipivoxil is an oral antiviral medicine used to treat chronic hepatitis B (HBV) in adults and in adolescents 12 years old and older who have active viral replication and signs of ongoing liver inflammation or damage.

It belongs to a family of medicines called nucleotide analogs, which help slow the virus down and protect the liver from further injury. Adefovir does not cure hepatitis B, but it can lower HBV DNA levels. This eventually improves liver enzyme tests and reduces the risk of long-term complications like cirrhosis & liver failure when used correctly and monitored regularly.

As it can affect the kidneys & cause serious liver-related side effects if stopped suddenly, treatment with adefovir is usually managed by a liver specialist or a physician. With a valid prescription, you can order Adefovir Dipivoxil from Canada via Polar Bear Meds.

Usage Guide

How Do You Take Adefovir Dipivoxil Tablets?

Here’s how you should take Adefovir Dipivoxil to get the best results:

  • Take this medicine consistently as directed by your health care professional.
  • Take the tablet once per day at the same time each day.
  • You may take it with food or without it.
  • Swallow the Adefovir Dipivoxil 10 mg tablets whole. Don’t chew, crush, or split unless your doctor advises you otherwise.
How It Works

How Adefovir Dipivoxil Works

Adefovir Dipivoxil is a prodrug of adefovir. This simply means it is converted in the body to the active medicine. It belongs to the class of nucleotide analog reverse transcriptase inhibitors (often called “nucleos(t)ide analogs” or NAs).

Once taken, adefovir is converted in liver cells to adefovir diphosphate, which mimics one of the natural building blocks of viral DNA. The hepatitis B virus uses an enzyme called HBV polymerase (a reverse transcriptase) to copy its genetic material.

When adefovir diphosphate is incorporated into the viral DNA chain, it causes chain terminations, so the virus cannot complete its DNA and cannot multiply normally.

Adefovir further slows the viral replication and lowers HBV DNA levels, which reduces liver inflammation and may limit long-term complications. It does not remove HBV from the body, so treatment is usually long-term and part of an overall chronic hepatitis B management strategy.

Warnings

Adefovir Dipivoxil Warnings

There are 4 serious black box warnings for Adefovir Dipivoxil:

Worsening Hepatitis after stopping the medication:

  • If you stop taking Adefovir Dipivoxil, your hepatitis B can suddenly get much worse.
  • This can happen within weeks after stopping the drug and may be serious. And because of this, your doctor will need to check your liver tests regularly for several months after you stop the medication.
  • Some people, especially those with more advanced liver disease, can become very sick, and there have been rare cases of death. If hepatitis gets worse, restarting treatment may be needed.

Kidney problems:

  • Adefovir Dipivoxil can cause slow-developing kidney damage, especially in people who already have kidney issues or who take other medications that can harm the kidneys.
  • Your health care provider will check your kidney function regularly during treatment.
  • If your kidneys are not working well, you may need a different dose.
  • In children under 18 with kidney problems, safety has not been well studied.

HIV resistance:

  • If you have hepatitis B and HIV but do not know you have HIV, taking Adefovir Dipivoxil could cause the HIV virus to become resistant to treatment later.
  • Before you start the medicine, you should be offered an HIV test.

Lactic acidosis and severe liver problems (rare but serious):

  • These conditions can be life-threatening and have occurred mostly in women and people who are overweight or who have been on similar drugs for a long time.
  • Your doctor may stop the medication right away if you develop symptoms such as:
  • Unusual tiredness or weakness
  • Stomach pain
  • Trouble breathing
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Dark urine
  • Yellowing of skin or eyes
  • Sudden weight loss or liver-related symptoms
Safety Guide

Take these precautions while or before using Adefovir Dipivoxil:

  • Do not use this Adefovir Dipivoxil if you have a known hypersensitivity to this medicine or any of its ingredients.
  • Before you even start your therapy, have baseline tests for:
  • HBV DNA
  • Liver enzymes
  • Kidney function
  • HIV status
  • Keep regular follow-up labs (especially creatinine and phosphorus) to catch early kidney injury and adjust dose or stop treatment if needed.
  • Let your provider know about all medicines, be it prescription, OTC (over the counter), especially NSAIDs, other antivirals, or transplant medications that can strain the kidneys.
  • Do not share your hepatitis B medicines with others, and do not take someone else’s antiviral, since dosing and monitoring must be personalised.
Missed Dose

Adefovir Dipivoxil Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Adefovir Dipivoxil and remember the same day, take the missed tablet when you remember (unless it’s close to your next scheduled dose). If it is close to your next dose, skip the one you missed. Resume with your regular schedule.

Don’t take two doses at once to make up for a missed one. Do talk to your doctor if you miss your doses frequently or set alarms to remind you.

Overdose

Adefovir Dipivoxil Overdose

Taking more Adefovir Dipivoxil than prescribed can increase the risk of serious toxicity, especially kidney injury and lactic acidosis.

If you suspect an overdose, call 911 or the Poison Control in the U.S. at 1-800-222-1222. Do not wait for symptoms to become severe, and do not try to treat yourself on your own.
