Matt Sommers, PharmD
Matt Sommers, PharmD, is a pharmacist, medical writer, and editor based in Minnesota. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 2011 and has 12 years of clinical and pharmacy management experience.
Matt began his career as a staff pharmacist at Hy-Vee in Webster City, Iowa, and later became a pharmacy manager at Hy-Vee in Eagan, Minnesota. He then worked as a clinical pharmacist at Genoa Healthcare, providing medication review, optimization, and patient education with a behavioral health focus. Along the way, he helped open a new pharmacy from the ground up and served as a preceptor for pharmacy students.
Since 2023, Matt has worked as an independent medical editor and clinical content consultant, serving as a subject matter expert in medical writing and pharmacology.
He believes clear, non-judgmental education helps patients and families, including those affected by addiction, make confident decisions about their healthcare and recovery.
