How to Inject Zepbound KwikPen

How to Inject Zepbound KwikPen

When you consider Zepbound for chronic weight management & obstructive sleep apnea, follow these administration guidelines:

  • Zepbound KwikPen is injected once weekly under the skin (subcutaneous injection).
  • The injection can be taken at any time of day, with or without food.
  • Start with the recommended dose and increase only as directed.
  • Before use, inspect the medicine and ensure the solution is clear to slightly yellow and free of particles.
  • Wash both hands and clean the injection site properly with alcohol before injecting Zepbound KwikPen.
  • Attach a new pen needle to the KwikPen for each injection.
  • Inject into the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm (upper arm only if someone else gives the injection).
  • Rotate injection sites each week and avoid injecting into the same spot repeatedly.
  • Insert the Zepbound pen needle fully into the skin and press the dose knob until it stops.
  • Hold the dose knob down for at least 5 seconds to make sure the full dose is delivered.
  • Confirm that the dose window shows zero before removing the needle.
  • Remove the needle after injection and dispose of it immediately in an FDA-approved sharps container.
  • Do not reuse needles or share the Zepbound KwikPen with anyone else.
  • Do not transfer medicine from the KwikPen into a syringe.
  • Discard the Zepbound KwikPen even if some medicine remains.
  • If a dose of Zepbound is missed and it has been 4 days or less since the missed dose, take the dose as soon as possible. If more than 4 days (96 hours) have passed since the missed Zepbound dose, skip it. Take the next dose on the regularly scheduled day. Do not take two doses within the same week to make up for a missed dose.
  • If the dosing day needs to be changed, allow at least 3 days (72 hours) between doses.

In the event of a Zepbound overdose, contact a healthcare provider or the poison control center immediately.

How Does Zepbound KwikPen Work?

How Does Zepbound KwikPen Work?

Zepbound KwikPen delivers tirzepatide via a once-weekly subcutaneous injection and works by activating two natural hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1. These hormone receptors regulate appetite and metabolism. These hormones help regulate hunger signals in the brain. As a result, people tend to feel full sooner and eat less. Tirzepatide also improves insulin response and blood glucose control, supporting long-term weight management.
